</TD></TR><TR><TD class=ArticleBody>Abu Dhabi: Islam is valid for all ages, as it has the flexibility to meet all new developments and reach specific solutions for all problems, said a leading Saudi scholar.
In a lecture hosted on Wednesday by General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, prominent Saudi cleric Abdullah Bin Mohammad Hassan Fad'aq discussed the 'The Islamic Sharia (legislation) and challenges'.
"We should not say that Islamic Sharia is valid for all ages and places," Fad'aq said. "It is not just valid, but it is the way to face all ages and times, since they can only be righteous through Sharia," he added.
Fad'aq said that the Islamic culture has solutions for all aspects of life. It also implanted the concept of reasoning and encouraged individuals to bring out the treasures of Sharia for all humanity to learn from it.
He said that prior to Islam, all other legislations aimed to lead people in the right direction and cared for spiritual and moral education, but did not address politics and economy, contrary to Islam, which did all that.
He went on to say that rules differ according to time and place and no one expects Sharia to come up with modern solutions for the problems of our times.
"It is a growing and developing system that can renew itself and adapt," he said. Islamic Sharia is independent by nature, and protects itself from any foreign factors, Al Fad'aq concluded.
The lecture was attended by Shaikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, Lieutenant Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Interior Minister, Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs, and other Shaikhs, ministers and officials.
